Child Benefit Statistics
HM Revenue & Customs provide annual snapshots of the numbers of families claiming child benefit in terms of how many children are in the family and the numbers of children by age group. The snapshot is taken on the 31st August each year.

Child Poverty
The Children in Low-Income Families Local Measure is the proportion of children living in families either in receipt of out-of-work benefits or in receipt of tax credits with a reported income which is less than 60 per cent of national median income. Counts and percentages are provided on children under 16 years old and under 5 years old. Data is for a snapshot as at 31st August each year.

The Claimant Count is the number of people claiming Jobseeker's Allowance.

Claimant Count Proportions (Total, Male and Female)
The Claimant Count is the number of people claiming Jobseeker's Allowance.
Residence-based proportions express the number of claimants resident in an area as a percentage of the population aged 16-64 in that area.
Figures for the population aged 16-64 are sourced from the mid-year population estimates.

Index of Multiple Deprivation and Domains for Hertfordshire
The Indices of Deprivation are measures of deprivation for areas in England. The Index of Multiple Deprivation is a Lower Layer Super Output Area (LSOA) level measure of multiple deprivation and is made up of seven LSOA level Domain Indices. Each Domain Index is derived from a number of Sub-domains.

Jobs Density
Jobs Density rates refer to the number of jobs per resident of working age (16-64).
They give a measure of the mismatch between the supply and demand for labour in an area. For example, a job density of 1.0 would mean that there is one job for every resident of working age.
The total number of jobs is a workplace-based measure and comprises employees, self-employed, government-supported trainees and HM Forces.

Level 2 Pupil attainment at Key Stage 4 (School based data)
Data on pupils in state-funded schools achieving 5 or more GCSEs at grade A*-C (or equivalent accredited qualifications), including English and Mathematics GCSEs. Data is based on the location of the school.

The median annual pay for full-time workers resident in areas of Hertfordshire. Annual data is available from 2002 to present.
